Short and long range anti-tank missiles, manufactured by Turkish company Roketsan, are displayed during the International Defence and Security Fair (FEINDEF) in Madrid, May 12, 2025.

Overview

  • Turkey unveiled six advanced weapons systems, highlighted by the hypersonic Tayfun Block-4, at its International Defense Industry Fair in Istanbul.
  • The Tayfun Block-4 is a 21-foot, land-based ballistic missile that cruises at hypersonic speed, guided by an in-space navigation system and armed with a pre-shaped fragmentation warhead for strategic targets.
  • Roketsan also showcased a ramjet-powered air-to-air missile, a submarine-launched cruise missile, a loitering munition, a supersonic UAV-launched missile and a satellite launch vehicle.
  • Roketsan CEO Murat İkinci announced that the Tayfun Block-4 will enter Turkish military service by late 2025 and is not intended for export.
  • The unveiling underscores Ankara’s drive for defense self-reliance after its 2019 expulsion from the U.S. F-35 program while sustaining cooperation with NATO allies.
