The GAZAP aircraft bomb was unveiled at IDEF 2025 in Istanbul.

Overview

  • The 970-kg GAZAP bomb disperses 10,000 controlled fragments to achieve 10.16 fragments per square meter across a one-kilometer radius, making it three times more powerful than standard MK-series bombs.
  • NEB-2 Ghost can penetrate up to 90 meters underground and uses a 240-millisecond delayed detonation to amplify its subterranean blast effects.
  • Both weapons have completed qualification and certification and are cleared for deployment from Turkey’s F-16 and F-4 fighter jets.
  • Development was led by the National Defence Ministry’s R&D Centre, which plans future integration of both bombs onto drone platforms.
  • Unveiled at IDEF 2025, the bombs mark a strategic step in Turkey’s bid to expand its global defense exports and rival established U.S. and Russian conventional munitions.
