Overview
- The event is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 28, with the 5K starting at 9:30 a.m. in Red Hook and finishing near the World Trade Center.
- Organizers expect about 30,000 participants to take part in this year’s memorial run and walk.
- The NYPD will determine exact closure and reopening times, which in past years have run roughly from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- The Manhattan-bound entrance to the Hugh L. Carey Tunnel and portions of key corridors in Red Hook and Lower Manhattan will be closed, including West Street, the Battery Park Underpass, and segments of Van Brunt and Columbia streets.
- Proceeds benefit Tunnel to Towers programs that pay off mortgages for surviving spouses and provide mortgage-free homes to Gold Star families and catastrophically injured veterans and first responders.
