Tuna Salad Recall Remains Active in Seven States Over Listeria Risk

Overview

  • Reser’s Fine Foods initiated a voluntary recall after tracing breadcrumbs in its tuna salad to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
  • The recall covers products sold July 16–19 at Jewel-Osco locations in Illinois, Indiana and Iowa and at Albertsons, Randalls and Tom Thumb in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas.
  • The FDA reports that no illnesses or injuries have been linked to the recalled tuna salad as of July 24.
  • Consumers who purchased affected items are urged to throw them away or return them for a full refund and to thoroughly sanitize any surfaces that contacted the product.
  • Listeria monocytogenes poses serious health risks for pregnant individuals, older adults, infants and immunocompromised people and is the third leading cause of death from foodborne illness in the U.S.
