Tulip Siddiq Faces Scrutiny Over Family Ties and Ethics Allegations

The UK Treasury minister has referred herself to an ethics watchdog following questions about her links to her aunt's ousted Bangladeshi regime and property dealings.

Siddiq has referred herself to the Prime Minister's ethics advisor, requesting an independent review of her financial affairs and family connections, which she denies are improper.
Resurfaced footage from 2017 shows Siddiq warning a pregnant journalist to “be very careful” when questioned about her aunt’s regime, comments she later apologized for as “ill-judged.”
Sheikh Hasina’s government, ousted last year, has been accused of human rights abuses, including extrajudicial killings and the secret detention of opponents, such as British-trained lawyer Ahmad bin Quasem.
Labour officials are reportedly informally considering replacements for Siddiq, though Prime Minister Keir Starmer has publicly expressed confidence in her.
