Overview
- Flight TOM6754, a Boeing 737 bound for Paphos, declared an emergency shortly after a 4:30pm take-off from Cardiff.
- Pilots held to burn fuel, circling Swansea Bay near 3,000 ft before climbing to about 12,000 ft toward the West Midlands.
- The jet landed at Birmingham around 5:30pm, where airport fire crews met it and passengers and crew disembarked safely.
- Birmingham Airport suspended movements at 5:12pm for roughly half an hour to accommodate the divert, then resumed operations.
- Initial reports cited an engine failure, but TUI later said the issue was a bird strike after take-off and that there was no engine failure.
