Tucumán Launches Full Airport Renovation as Salta Upgrade Reaches 50%

Phased construction will keep flights running throughout a full terminal overhaul to meet international standards.

Overview

  • Tucumán officials and Aeropuertos Argentina kicked off a 26–27 month rebuild of the Benjamín Matienzo terminal budgeted at roughly US$50–60 million.
  • Authorities pledged uninterrupted operations using a provisional check-in and staged openings during construction.
  • The project refits about 10,000 m², targets a doubling of passenger processing, and enables up to five concurrent flights under international standards.
  • Provincial leaders said the works will generate around 500 direct jobs and respond to a roughly 15% rise in air travelers this year.
  • In Salta, the Martín Miguel de Güemes expansion reached 50% completion under a program exceeding US$100 million to lift capacity about 65% and allow four domestic plus two international simultaneous flights.
