Overview
- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall on August 30, covering roughly 764,000 units in the U.S. and about 16,000 in Canada.
- Reports document 135 incidents, including 41 explosions and 32 injuries to hands, fingers, faces and eyes, with cases reported in the U.S. and none noted in Canada.
- The recall applies to Ryobi models RY142300 and RY142711VNM sold from July 2017 through June 2024.
- Techtronic Industries is providing a free repair kit with a replacement capacitor through the Ryobi website, and owners are directed to stop using the machines until repaired.
