TTC Begins Weekend Shutdowns on Key Subway Segments as Festivals Draw Crowds

Expanded streetcar routes will replace closed sections of Line 1 downtown, with shuttle buses in place on Line 2 before nightly shutdowns start Monday

Overview

  • Line 1 service between St. George and St. Andrew is suspended from Friday night through Sunday morning with no shuttle buses, directing riders to surface routes.
  • Shuttle buses will replace Line 2 service between Kipling and Keele on Saturday and between St. George and Broadview from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Sunday, closing Runnymede, High Park, Bay and Sherbourne stations.
  • Regular subway service on affected Line 2 segments resumes Sunday morning and Line 1 service returns Monday morning ahead of overnight closures.
  • Starting Monday at 11 p.m., nightly shuttle buses will run between Victoria Park and Kennedy stations through July 31, and Warden Station will be closed for track maintenance.
  • The scheduling balances infrastructure upgrades with festival weekend travel demand and relies on boosted surface routes downtown due to construction and traffic constraints.
