TSMC Keeps 2nm Ramp on Q4 Schedule as Apple Locks Nearly Half of Early Output

Premium pricing and a rapid capacity buildout position the next node for wider uptake in 2026 as TSMC accelerates a 1.4nm fab program.

Overview

  • TSMC is reported to begin full-scale 2nm production in the fourth quarter of 2025, with initial output centered at its Baoshan and Kaohsiung sites.
  • Apple has reportedly secured close to 50% of the first wave of capacity, with Qualcomm next, followed by AMD, MediaTek, Broadcom, and Intel.
  • Monthly 2nm capacity is targeted at about 45,000–50,000 wafers by late 2025, surpassing 100,000 in 2026 and reaching roughly 200,000 by 2028 as Arizona fabs ramp.
  • TSMC is setting a premium price near $30,000 per wafer, with demand still described as fully booked through 2026.
  • NVIDIA, Amazon’s Annapurna, Google, Marvell, Bitmain and others are expected to enter mass production in 2027, while TSMC moves ahead with a new 1.4nm Fab 25 targeting trials in 2027 and full output in 2028 with an investment around $49 billion.
