TSE Relator Allows Two Roraima Candidates to Keep Campaigning While Eligibility Is Decided

• On Thursday, June 18 the TSE relator, minister Antonio Carlos Ferreira, ruled that Arthur Henrique and his running mate Velton may continue campaigning, use free electoral airtime, receive public campaign funds and keep their names on the ballot while their registrations remain sub judice.
• The pair had their candidacies blocked by the Roraima electoral court on June 2 for failing to meet desincompatibilização deadlines, rules that require certain officeholders to resign months before a vote.
• In May STF minister Flávio Dino voided a TRE-RR resolution that allowed resignations up to 24 hours after party conventions and ordered application of statutory deadlines, a position the Supreme Court is now set to confirm or reverse in a pending judgment.
• The TSE formed a partial majority on June 12 in favor of the TRE-RR rule that loosens deadlines but the vote was paused after a minister requested more time, leaving competing rulings across TRE-RR, TSE and STF and creating legal uncertainty.
• With a supplementary election set for Sunday, June 21 the provisional permission lets contested candidates continue to campaign and potentially shape voter choices, and a late final ruling could determine who ultimately appears on the ballot and who benefits from public campaign resources.
