TSB Investigates After WestJet 737 MAX Engine Fire at Vancouver Airport

  • The small tailpipe blaze occurred shortly after WestJet flight 1285 shut down at YVR, triggering onboard fire suppression systems
  • Approximately 50 remaining passengers were evacuated via inflatable slides as a precaution
  • Airport fire crews arrived to find the flame already extinguished by the aircraft’s systems
  • No injuries were reported and other arrivals and departures proceeded without disruption
