Overview
- ConfirmID allows adults without a REAL ID or other accepted identification to attempt identity verification for a $45 fee starting Feb. 1.
- A single payment covers a 10-day travel window, and travelers are urged to prepay through Pay.gov and bring the receipt to the checkpoint.
- Cash will not be accepted for the fee, with payments limited to bank account transfers, debit or credit cards, Venmo, or PayPal.
- The process typically takes 10 to 15 minutes but can exceed 30 minutes, and each traveler age 18 or older without acceptable ID must complete it separately.
- Accepted alternatives that avoid the fee include a REAL ID-compliant license, U.S. passport or passport card, DHS trusted-traveler cards, Department of Defense IDs, and other TSA-listed documents, and TSA notes verification does not guarantee clearance.
