Overview
- An initial group of airports prioritized for spring 2026 includes IAH, HOU, IAD, BOS, MIA, PBI, SNA, DAL, MCI, FLL, SJC, SMF, ANC, BWI, MCO and LGB, with 35 additional sites to follow by late spring.
- Use is limited to TSA PreCheck travelers flying American, Alaska, Delta, Southwest or United at participating airports.
- Enrollment requires adding a Known Traveler Number and valid passport to a participating airline profile and opting in, after which a Touchless ID indicator appears on the mobile boarding pass.
- Participation remains optional, and travelers are advised to carry Real ID–compliant identification and a boarding pass in case manual verification is needed.
- TSA says images are not used for law enforcement or surveillance and are deleted within 24 hours, and the facial scan at the checkpoint typically takes about 10 seconds.
