Overview
- Beginning Feb. 1, 2026, travelers without a REAL ID or other accepted identification can opt to use TSA ConfirmID for a $45 fee at airports including Atlanta and CVG.
- The fee can be paid online in advance through TSA ConfirmID, and the receipt allows checkpoint access without an ID for up to 10 days from the payment date.
- TSA says the identity-verification process typically takes about 10–15 minutes, and airports are advising passengers to arrive earlier to account for the extra step.
- Paying the fee does not guarantee identity verification or boarding, as TSA may be unable to confirm a traveler’s identity.
- Passengers can avoid the charge by bringing acceptable IDs such as a U.S. passport, passport card, enhanced driver’s license, or permanent resident card, with TSA reporting compliance above 94%.
