TSA Readies for Thanksgiving Surge With 17.8 Million Screenings Expected
The agency is directing travelers to PreCheck and myTSA for faster screening.
Overview
- TSA projects more than 3 million passengers will be screened on Sunday, Nov. 30, the single busiest day of the period.
- Kentucky airports and Lehigh Valley (ABE) expect peak crowds on the Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving and the Sunday after the holiday.
- Solid foods are permitted in carry-on bags, but items that can spill, spread, spray, pump or pour over 3.4 ounces must go in checked luggage.
- Acceptable identification such as a REAL ID or passport is required, and children 17 and under may accompany an enrolled adult through TSA PreCheck at no cost.
- Travelers can use the myTSA app’s “What can I bring?” tool, contact AskTSA on social media or by texting “Travel” to 275-872, and bring ice packs frozen solid if transporting perishable foods.
