- Metro Vancouver has finalized a full slate of community programming, including Semiahmoo First Nation’s walk in White Rock, an intergenerational Orange Shirt Day march at UBC, pay-what-you-can activities at MONOVA, cedar weaving workshops, and gatherings in Port Moody, New Westminster and Coquitlam.
- TransLink will run buses, SeaBus and SkyTrain on a Sunday/holiday schedule with holiday fares, and the West Coast Express will not operate, while many malls and attractions will open on reduced hours and government offices, banks and most libraries will close.
- The day is a paid federal statutory holiday for workers in federally regulated sectors, and it is also a provincial or territorial stat in British Columbia, Manitoba, Prince Edward Island, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut, with other jurisdictions generally leaving observance to employers or limiting it to the public sector.
- Toronto will mark the day with the two-day Indigenous Legacy Gathering at Nathan Phillips Square, survivor talks at the Bata Shoe Museum, community concerts, and film screenings at libraries and cinemas, with several events directing donations to survivor support organizations.
- Cape Breton communities have posted schedules for Sept. 30 commemorations, including memorial walks and cultural gatherings, followed by Treaty Day events on Oct. 1 to open Mi’kmaq History Month.
