Trump's Legal Defense Fund Spends Fraction of Raised Funds, None on Legal Cases

Majority of the $1.6 Million Raised by the Patriot Legal Defense Fund Came from a Single Donation by QAnon Supporters

  • Donald Trump's legal defense fund, the Patriot Legal Defense Fund (PLDF), has reportedly spent less than $30,000 of the $1.6 million it raised in the last six months, with none of the money going towards legal cases.
  • The largest expense of the PLDF was $18,136 paid to Trump's Mar-a-Lago club for 'banquet hall' fees in late November.
  • Trump is currently facing four criminal indictments and a total of 91 felony charges, including cases involving alleged efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election and the alleged mishandling of classified documents.
  • The majority of the PLDF's funding came from a single $1 million contribution from a trust owned by QAnon supporters Caryn and Michael Borland.
  • After the original tax filings were reported, the PLDF published new financial statements claiming the fund had neither raised nor spent any money, stating that the original filing was 'incomplete' and would be updated and refiled.
