Overview

  • Trump is scheduled on June 12 to sign three Congressional Review Act resolutions reversing Biden-era EPA waivers for California.
  • The resolutions block California’s mandate that 80% of new cars be electric by 2035 and rescind rules for zero-emissions heavy-duty trucks and low-NOx standards.
  • About a dozen states that adopted California’s stricter vehicle emissions rules will lose their authority to enforce higher standards.
  • General Motors, the American Trucking Associations and other industry groups backed the repeal, arguing for one unified national emissions framework.
  • Gov. Gavin Newsom has vowed to sue, calling the CRA repeal illegal and warning it could cost California taxpayers billions.
