Overview

  • The Wall Street Journal published an alleged 2003 birthday letter to Jeffrey Epstein featuring typed text framed by a hand-drawn nude figure and signed “Donald” beneath the waist.
  • The letter appeared in a leather-bound album compiled by Ghislaine Maxwell and reviewed by Department of Justice officials during earlier Epstein and Maxwell investigations.
  • Trump has denied writing or illustrating the letter, labeled the report a malicious fabrication and threatened legal action.
  • On July 18, he filed defamation lawsuits in the Southern District of Florida against The Wall Street Journal, its reporters, News Corp and Rupert Murdoch.
  • Department of Justice and FBI memoranda reaffirmed that Epstein died by suicide in 2019 and found no evidence of a clandestine client list for blackmail.
