Trump-Pardoned Jan. 6 Rioter Arrested on Child Solicitation Charges

- Andrew Taake, who was pardoned by President Donald Trump for his role in the January 6 Capitol riots, has been arrested in Texas on a 2016 charge of online solicitation of a minor.
- Taake was accused of sending sexually explicit messages to an undercover officer posing as a 15-year-old girl in a sting operation conducted by the Houston Metro Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
- He had been serving a six-year federal prison sentence for assaulting police officers with bear spray and a metal whip during the Capitol riots before his release on January 20, 2025, under Trump’s mass pardon.
- Harris County authorities had requested federal officials hold Taake due to the outstanding warrant, but he was released despite their efforts to prevent it.
- Taake was located and arrested in Leon County, Texas, after a surveillance operation, and he is now awaiting transfer to Harris County Jail where he will face the unresolved charges.
