President-elect Donald Trump is reportedly preparing to offer Kelly Loeffler the role of secretary of the Department of Agriculture.
Loeffler previously served as a U.S. senator from Georgia after being appointed in 2019 but lost her seat to Democrat Raphael Warnock in the 2021 special election.
Before her political career, Loeffler was the CEO of financial services company Bakkt and co-owner of the WNBA team Atlanta Dream.
Her tenure as a WNBA team co-owner drew criticism in 2020 due to her opposition to the league's support for racial justice initiatives, which led to player activism against her ownership.
Trump is expected to meet with Loeffler at Mar-a-Lago to discuss the potential cabinet position, though the appointment has not been officially confirmed.
