Trump Calls on Adams, Cuomo to Fight 'Unconstitutional' Sex Assault Law

The law, known as the 2022 Adult Survivors Act, has spurred thousands of sexual abuse cases, including those against Trump, Adams, and Cuomo.

Former President Donald Trump has urged New York City Mayor Eric Adams and former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo to fight against a state law that has led to thousands of sexual abuse cases being filed, including lawsuits against Adams and Cuomo.
The law in question is the 2022 Adult Survivors Act in New York State, which gave victims one year to make claims against their abusers, regardless of when the incident occurred.
Trump himself was found liable for sexually abusing and defaming writer E. Jean Carroll under this law, and was ordered to pay more than $5 million in damages.
Adams was recently accused of sexually assaulting a woman in 1993, while he was serving as an NYPD officer, and Cuomo was hit with a sexual assault suit just before the deadline of the Adult Survivors Act.
Proponents of the legislation point to the Trump decision as proof of its constitutionality, while opponents argue that the legislation could violate the Due Process clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.
