Trump-backed Celeste Maloy wins Utah special GOP primary to replace retiring Rep. Chris Stewart

Celeste Maloy, a former staffer for Rep. Chris Stewart, narrowly won the Republican special primary election in Utah's 2nd Congressional District.
Maloy had the backing of Stewart and former Rep. Rob Bishop as well as support from rural areas.
Maloy's closest competitor was Becky Edwards, a Trump critic who led initial polls but faced backlash for not debating.
The special election was held after Rep. Stewart decided to retire from Congress due to his wife's illness.
Maloy will face Democratic state Sen. Kathleen Riebe in the November general election for the seat.
