Overview
- On July 1, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy took down the USGCRP website globalchange.gov along with all five editions of the National Climate Assessment OSTP announced NASA will host the preexisting assessment reports to meet statutory requirements; as of early July, the reports are not accessible on NASA’s sites
- Archived versions of the climate assessments and related resources remain available through the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine
- Climate scientists condemned the removals as scientific censorship that will hinder federal, state and local efforts to adapt to a warming world
- The shutdown reflects Project 2025’s agenda to reshape federal climate research and follows earlier funding cuts, scientist dismissals and the closure of NOAA’s Climate.gov
