Overview

  • The White House’s 90-action America’s AI Action Plan is now in effect under three pillars: Accelerating Innovation, Building American AI Infrastructure and Leading in International Diplomacy and Security.
  • It reverses Biden-era policies by dropping CHIPS Act subsidies and fast-tracking environmental approvals for power grids, data centers and new energy projects such as geothermal, nuclear fission and fusion.
  • Federal agencies have been directed to withhold AI-related funding from states with “burdensome” regulations, preempting local oversight and raising concerns over regulatory uncertainty.
  • An executive order titled “Preventing Woke AI in the Federal Government” requires that agencies procure only truth-seeking, ideologically neutral AI systems.
  • Industry giants including OpenAI, Google, Meta and Nvidia have praised the infrastructure focus, and South Korea’s government is preparing regulatory relief to build its own AI data center ecosystem.
