Truecaller to End iPhone Call Recording on September 30

Truecaller has provided guidance to help users preserve recordings ahead of the shutdown triggered by Apple’s native iOS call recording.

Overview

  • Effective September 30, Truecaller’s call recording feature on iPhones will cease to function and stored recordings will no longer be accessible through the app.
  • Users can export saved call recordings via email, WhatsApp or by migrating them to iCloud using in-app backup options until the deadline.
  • Apple’s introduction of built-in call recording and Live Caller ID in iOS 18.1 rendered Truecaller’s complex three-way merge workaround redundant.
  • Truecaller is reallocating development resources on iOS toward expanded Live Caller ID functionality and automatic spam-blocking services.
  • In early August, the company rolled out step-by-step instructions within the app to guide users through backing up or exporting their recordings before the feature retires.
