Overview
- On the A13 near Radeburg, a low-loader with a construction machine stopped on the hard shoulder after a tyre failure, and a small van clipped the trailer’s rear-left corner and tipped onto its side, blocking the Berlin-bound lanes.
- The 29-year-old van occupant was seriously injured and hospitalized, while the 33-year-old low-loader driver was unhurt, police said.
- Material damage was estimated at about €30,000 for the van, €20,000 for the trailer, and €500 for a guardrail, with traffic diverted and ADAC reporting roughly five kilometres of queues and about 60 minutes of delay.
- Separately around midnight on the A113 between Schönefeld-Nord and Adlershof, a fruit-laden trailer caught fire; the driver escaped and firefighters used foam, including a specialized vehicle from nearby BER airport.
- Berlin’s fire brigade deployed up to 49 personnel for roughly five hours, one direction reopened outbound, and a police fire commission opened an investigation into the cause.
