Overview

• The collision happened shortly before 9:00 a.m. at km 92+105 in the Luis Echeverría Álvarez area of Tecate.
• Initial reports indicate the tractor-trailer apparently lost brakes before striking at least five vehicles, including a double-trailer hauling alfalfa.
• At least eight people were injured, with two in critical condition, two serious and four minor, and they were taken to Hospital General de Tecate, IMSS Clinic 6 and Isstecali.
• Both directions of the toll road were closed at km 92, with traffic diverted to the free road as crews worked to clear wreckage.
• Firefighters, Red Cross, municipal security, the National Guard, the Defense Ministry and CAPUFE coordinated rescue and vehicle-removal operations, which were continuing as the investigation developed.
