Tru Fru Freeze-Dried Strawberry Snacks Recalled Over Possible Metal Contamination

The third-party manufacturer, Georgia Nut Company, initiated a voluntary recall limited to specific lot codes.

Overview

  • The FDA posted the recall on Sept. 29 after Tru Fru notified the agency on Sept. 26 that a consumer reported finding metal.
  • Affected items include Freeze Dried Strawberries in Dark & White Chocolate (1.7 oz, 3.4 oz, 13 oz) and Strawberries & Crème (3.4 oz), identified by specific item numbers, UPCs and manufacturing-code prefixes.
  • Consumers are instructed to check the first four characters of the manufacturing code on the back of the bag to determine if a product is included.
  • Distribution was nationwide to retailers such as Target, Kroger, Albertsons, CVS, H‑E‑B, Food Lion, Hungryroot, Ingles, Stew Leonard’s, Whole Foods and Walmart, and stores are removing affected lots.
  • No injuries or illnesses have been reported, and consumers should discard recalled products and request reimbursement via the company portal or by contacting 888-293-7748 or [email protected].
