Overview
- CONAGUA confirmed Mario re‑intensified into a tropical storm south of Cabo San Lucas with sustained winds near 65 km/h and higher gusts while tracking west‑northwest offshore.
- SMN projects localized 75–150 mm downpours in parts of Sonora, Chihuahua, Sinaloa, Nayarit, Puebla, Veracruz, Oaxaca and Chiapas, with 50–75 mm in Durango, San Luis Potosí, Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, Guerrero, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatán and Quintana Roo.
- Showers and storms are also forecast for Baja California Sur, Tamaulipas, Hidalgo, State of Mexico, Morelos, Tlaxcala and Mexico City, where evening rain is possible during Grito de Independencia events.
- Bands from Mario will bring 40–60 km/h gusts and 1–2 m surf to the southern coast of Baja California Sur, while elevated waves of about 2–3 m are expected along stretches of the Pacific coast.
- SMN, CONAGUA and Protección Civil warn of urban flooding, landslides, downed trees and dangerous surf, noting Mario does not pose a direct threat to Sonora but its moisture can enhance rains as authorities monitor additional instability later this week.
