Overview

  • Mexico’s weather service placed Juliette several hundred kilometers southwest of Cabo San Lucas with sustained winds near 95 km/h and a west-northwest track.
  • Juliette’s broad circulation is producing 1.5 to 2.5 meter surf and localized heavy rain along the south of Baja California Sur, prompting advisories for mariners and beachgoers.
  • SMN, Conagua and the NHC forecast Juliette could strengthen to a Category 1 hurricane within the next 24 to 48 hours before gradually weakening later in the week.
  • Moisture from Juliette and other systems is expected to enhance rainfall, with intense totals forecast in parts of Jalisco, Sinaloa, Durango, Nayarit, Veracruz, Tabasco, Oaxaca and Chiapas.
  • Separately, Tropical Storm Fernand is centered about 2,660 km east-northeast of Quintana Roo, moving north over open water with no effects anticipated in Mexico and likely weakening in the coming days.
