• As of early Friday, Gabrielle had 50 mph winds and was about 595 miles east-northeast of the northern Leeward Islands, moving west-northwest near 12 mph.
• The National Hurricane Center expects gradual strengthening with hurricane status likely by Sunday.
• A turn toward the northwest is forecast by Friday night, then north-northwest Saturday night and north on Sunday, with the center passing east of Bermuda Sunday night into Monday.
• Bermuda has no watches or warnings, but swells arriving Friday night are likely to produce life-threatening surf and rip currents through the weekend.
• Gabrielle remains poorly organized due to wind shear and dry Saharan air, and the NHC is also monitoring a tropical wave off Africa with a 20% seven-day development chance.
