Overview

• Landfall occurred north of Vinh in Nghe An province with gale‑force winds, severe thunderstorms and heavy rain, with the historic city of Hue also affected.
• Four central airports, including Da Nang International, temporarily suspended flights as power outages, flooding and landslides were reported across the region.
• Search operations are under way for fishermen reported missing offshore after the storm crossed the coast.
• Before crossing the South China Sea to Vietnam, Bualoi struck the Philippines, where the disaster agency reported at least 27 deaths and the storm at times reached typhoon strength.
• The hit to central Vietnam follows a run of damaging cyclones, including Typhoon Kajiki about a month ago and last year’s deadly Yagi.
