Tropical Homestead and File-Based Layout Sharing Coming in Guild Wars 2's Oct. 28 Expansion

ArenaNet is adding local file-based layout saving for shareable homestead builds.

Overview

  • Visions of Eternity launches October 28 and introduces Comosus Isle, a tropical private-island homestead.
  • Moving to the island requires both Janthir Wilds and Visions of Eternity, with plot switching handled in-game by Deft Lahar.
  • The island’s house and other structures are fully modular decorations that players can remove or rebuild, including placeable doors that open and close.
  • A new layout system saves entire homesteads as local XML files for sharing or guest copying, with import warnings for missing items and partial loads allowed.
  • Layout saves currently apply to the whole plot, with XML edits enabling structure-by-structure workarounds, and the feature is also coming to guild halls.
