Tropical Cyclone Sean Forms Off WA Coast, Bringing Heavy Rain and Strong Winds

Tropical Cyclone Sean has formed as a Category 1 system approximately 150 kilometers north of Western Australia’s Pilbara coast.
The cyclone is predicted to strengthen to Category 2 or possibly Category 3 by Monday but is expected to remain offshore.
Damaging wind gusts of up to 120 km/h and heavy rainfall of 50 to 100 mm are forecast for coastal areas, with localized falls up to 150 mm possible.
Authorities have issued flood watches and urged residents to secure loose items and stay updated on emergency warnings.
Port Hedland and other Pilbara ports have been closed as precautionary measures, while the south-west of WA faces severe heatwave conditions.
