Trooper Hurt, Driver Arrested After Traffic Stop Escalation in Ellis County

  • A DPS trooper initiated the stop at around 3 p.m. Friday on US 287 near Black Champ Road after observing a GMC pickup commit a traffic violation.
  • As the truck slowed, the front-seat passenger fled on foot, and authorities have not yet identified or located them.
  • The driver, identified as 28-year-old Jose Molina of Fort Worth, allegedly resisted arrest and injured the trooper with minor wounds.
  • Molina was subdued and booked into the Ellis County Jail on charges of evading arrest in a motor vehicle, resisting arrest and possession of marijuana.
  • The trooper is receiving treatment at a local hospital and Texas DPS continues to investigate.
