Overview
- Triumph announced Thursday that a new, purpose-built Moto2 race engine will debut in 2027 and that it delivers about 6% more peak power while the company is not yet disclosing the exact displacement change.
- The new unit uses a redesigned cylinder head with a low-inertia valvetrain, higher-flow intake ports and a reworked combustion chamber to boost airflow, compression and torque across the rev range.
- Triumph says it has rebuilt crankcases and all internal components to cope with the extra power and preserve reliability after a vigorous testing programme.
- Chassis manufacturers have been engaged and will need to revise intake position and engine mounting points, with private track testing scheduled before the engine’s on-track debut later this year.
