Tripura Sets Goal to Train 1% of Residents as Civil Defence Volunteers

A Government of India project will upskill about 3,000 volunteers by March 31, 2026.

Overview

  • Chief Minister Manik Saha announced the target at the 63rd All India Civil Defence and Home Guards Day event in Agartala.
  • About 5,000 trained Civil Defence volunteers are currently deployed across the state.
  • Roughly 2,500 Apda Mitra volunteers are active in disaster response, control room duties, relief work, public awareness, and skill development with support from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
  • Tripura has formalized leadership with the Relief and Rehabilitation director named as Director of Civil Defence and ADMs and Collectors designated as district controllers across eight districts.
  • Training is underway at the Central Training Institute and district centres, with this year’s volunteer parade reported as significantly larger than in previous years.
