Tripura Police Arrest Three in Agartala With Two Pistols During Patrol

Police are probing whether a man from Bihar brought the weapons by train into Agartala.

  • Officers on routine patrol near the Brajeshwar bridge on the Amtali Bypass detained three men around 9:30 pm Monday.
  • Two country-made pistols, four magazines and three mobile phones were seized, according to West Tripura SP Namit Pathak.
  • Police identified the locals as Tinku Debbarma and a Debbarma whose name was reported as Sumenda or Samarendra, and the third as Sibash Kumar of Dumeria Khurd, Bihar.
  • A case has been registered under the Arms Act and the suspects are being interrogated to determine procurement and intended recipients.
  • The arrest follows several recent firearm recoveries in Tripura, including eight pistols found on a train at Agartala station in May and a separate seizure on November 15.
