Tripura Crime Falls to 20-Year Low in 2025 as Drug Crackdown Expands

The police chief linked the gains to a zero-tolerance drug drive under the 'Nasha Mukt Tripura' campaign.

  • Official data show overall registered cases fell 8.3% to 3,698 from 4,033 in 2024, marking the lowest level in two decades.

  • Crimes against women decreased to 665 from 724, including drops in dowry harassment (256 to 206) and reported rape (180 to 169), while rioting cases fell to 17 from 23.
  • NDPS cases rose about 11% to 522, and authorities destroyed narcotics valued at an estimated Rs 1,636 crore in 2025 compared with Rs 849 crore in 2024.
  • The DGP reported a 31% conviction rate and said police are working closely with the BSF to secure the 856-km Bangladesh border, with the state described as fully secure.
