Tripura Authorities Seize Rs 40 Crore of Yaba Tablets in Two Operations

All seized tablets have been handed to the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence for investigation under the NDPS Act.

Overview

  • On July 16, Tripura Police stopped an autorickshaw at Teliamura’s 41 Mile Naka Point and recovered about 1 lakh Yaba tablets valued at roughly Rs 10 crore.
  • Two passengers, Suman Majumder and Bikas Deb, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of drug trafficking.
  • In a separate raid at Khayerpur, Assam Rifles troops and state police seized around 3 lakh Yaba tablets worth about Rs 30 crore after the truck driver fled.
  • All tablets have been transferred to the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence and cases have been registered under the NDPS Act for further probe.
  • Authorities have stepped up multi-agency operations along the Indo-Myanmar border to disrupt escalating cross-border narcotics smuggling.
