Trio Jailed for Yorkshire Car-Key Burglary Spree Totaling Nearly 30 Years

Joint policing with forensic evidence secured the convictions.

Overview

  • Sheffield Crown Court sentenced Ryan Wilkinson, 25, and Cyle Jenkins, 23, to nine years and four months each, and Adrian Askin, 28, to ten years.
  • All three pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated burglary, one burglary, and two counts of theft of a motor vehicle.
  • The spree began on October 21, 2024 in Camblesforth, where the masked men posed as police, assaulted a woman, and demanded her Audi RS3 key as she refused to provide the immobiliser code.
  • The following night they burgled homes in Gilberdyke and Carlton targeting newly purchased Volkswagen Golf R cars, with the Carlton victim threatened with a crowbar and what was later identified as his own air rifle.
  • Police tracked the stolen cars on false plates toward Doncaster, used a stinger, then found two offenders hiding under a hot tub lid and a third in a trailer, with footwear impressions and CCTV linking a limp helping to secure the case as victims reported lasting trauma.
