Tributes for 43-Year-Old Biker Killed in East Lancs Road Collision

Greater Manchester Police are appealing for witnesses or footage from the Worsley junction.

  • Police said the crash at the East Lancashire Road and Old Clough Lane junction on Friday around 2pm involved a motorbike and a car and left David Connah, 43, dead.
  • Detectives from the Serious Collisions Investigation Unit are seeking witnesses or any dashcam, CCTV or phone video from the area to help piece together what happened.
  • Officers asked anyone with information to call 0161 856 4741 quoting log 1826 of 01/05/2026 or to use GMP’s online report tool, with anonymous tips taken by Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
  • Emergency crews closed the A580 in both directions between Walkden Road and the M60 junction, and the anti-clockwise M60 slip road at junction 14 also shut as traffic tailed back onto the motorway.
  • Family tributes released through police remembered Connah as a devoted fiancé, stepdad and twin who “lit up any room,” with his children writing, “Even after death, we will always find a way to ride again.”
