Overview

• Locals found the mother of five tied to a tree and unconscious on Saturday near the Pothamsettipally–Edupayala temple road with multiple injuries, including a fractured hand.
• The victim was a daily-wage labourer from a tribal thanda who left for work on Friday and did not return home.
• Preliminary police findings suggest she was hired for labour in Medak, taken to an isolated spot near the temple, and allegedly beaten and raped.
• She was first treated at the Medak government hospital and was being shifted to Gandhi Hospital when she died on Saturday night.
• Police said the case, initially booked as rape and attempt to murder, was altered to murder as investigators examine nearby CCTV to trace the culprits.
