  • The government has declared Nov 15, 2024 to Nov 15, 2025 as Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh to honour Birsa Munda with a year-long national and state-level events programme.
  • The Rs 24,104 crore PM-JANMAN scheme targets 75 particularly vulnerable tribal groups across 18 states and one union territory with housing, water, power and connectivity interventions.
  • The newly launched Dharti Aba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan will mobilise 17 line ministries to deliver 25 multi-sectoral interventions for the holistic development of tribal villages.
  • The ministry is examining Great Nicobar Island infrastructure project documents to verify gram sabha consent and compliance with forest rights procedures.
  • Tribal health initiatives include universal sickle cell anaemia screening for over 50 million people and a mission to eliminate the disease by 2047, while five scholarship schemes support 3 million ST students annually.
