Overview
- California Department of Fish and Wildlife confirmed a non-target bear entered a baited cage on Dec. 16 and was tagged and relocated to nearby habitat.
- Officials identified the captured animal as a healthy male black bear about three to four years old that was not previously in the department’s system.
- CDFW said Yellow 2120, the roughly 550-pound bear living under the residence, was still beneath the home as of Friday morning.
- Biologists had scented the trap with cherry and caramel lures in an effort to draw out the target bear, which has repeatedly returned to the crawl space.
- Department records show Yellow 2120 was previously trapped, tagged, and released to the Angeles National Forest about 10 miles away and has been in the Altadena area for an estimated five months.
