Transport Ministry Approves 4.68% AP-9 Toll Rise Starting Jan. 1

The increase follows a statutory formula that adds a 1% compensation canon and deferred inflation to the annual indexation.

Overview

  • The AP-9 tariff update takes effect on 1 January 2026, lifting the A CoruñaVigo trip to about €21.45, roughly €0.95 more than today.
  • The 4.68% rise reflects a 2.61% base update plus the AP-9’s cumulative 1% annual canon for Rande and Santiago works and a pass-through of frozen 2023 CPI.
  • Transport ministry subsidies that cushioned recent inflation are being phased out, with an estimated €15 million applied in 2026 after more than €73 million between 2023 and 2025; without subsidy, the AP-9 increase would have reached about 5.83%.
  • State-managed SEITT toll roads will increase prices by 2% in 2026, and the AP-7 Circunvalación de Alicante becomes free following a Council of Ministers decision.
  • Final posted AP-9 prices may vary by segment because Audasa can round tolls to €0.05 increments under Spanish law, and other concessions will see 2026 increases between 3.64% and 4.68%.
