Translicsa Bus Shot in San Martín de Porres as Drivers Halt Service Over Extortion Threats

Police say the attack was likely an extortion warning now under review by specialized units.

Overview

  • The bus, parked on Av. Los Eucaliptos, was fired on by two assailants on a motorcycle, and the driver, Gregorio Quiclla Honorio, was not injured.
  • Forensic teams recovered about seven shell casings and recorded impacts concentrated on the lower part of the vehicle, consistent with intimidation.
  • The PNP opened an investigation involving Dirincri’s homicide division and Lima Norte intelligence, with nearby CCTV under analysis and no arrests reported.
  • This is at least the third attack on Translicsa in 2025, following incidents reported in April and September that media linked to the “cobro de cupos” pattern.
  • More than 80 Translicsa drivers suspended service on Tuesday to demand security, citing reported daily extortion payments of S/10–S/20 and earlier upfront sums near S/50,000.
