Overview
- São Paulo will raise municipal bus fares to R$5.30 from R$5.00 on Jan. 6, with metro and CPTM tickets moving to R$5.40 from R$5.20 the same day, and existing gratuities kept.
- Five Greater São Paulo municipalities in the CIOESTE consortium—Osasco, Barueri, Carapicuíba, Jandira and Itapevi—will lift fares from R$5.80 to R$6.10 on Jan. 5.
- Rio de Janeiro’s municipal transport fares, including buses, VLT, BRT and vans, will increase by R$0.30 to R$5.00 on Jan. 4.
- Belo Horizonte implemented new prices on Jan. 1, taking conventional lines to R$6.25 from R$5.75 (8.6%), while zero-fare routes in favelas and free rides on Sundays and holidays remain.
- Other adjustments started Jan. 1 in capitals such as Florianópolis and Fortaleza, with Florianópolis also ending cash payments, and Alto Tietê cities like Arujá and Itaquaquecetuba moving to R$6.00.
